Do I have to wire funds prior to closing?


Yes. Effective August 1, 2015 lenders will be required to provide borrowers with an accurate Closing Disclosure 3 days prior to the closing date. The Closing Discloure will give you the amount you will need wire. Redmond Law will provide you with specific wiring instructions.

Note: In accordance with OCGA 44-14-13 all fund for closing must be "collected funds." meaning fund deposited, finally settled and credited. If the amount due at closing is under $5,000.00 then a cashier check made payable to Redmond Law, LLC or maker may be acceptable.

When do I file for Homestead?


Homestead can be filed as soon as you receive your recorded Deed, but must be filed by April 1st of the year following taking residence in the property. For a list of county information click here.

When will I receive my recorded Deed?


Recording times vary from county to county, however, you should receive your recorded deed within 6 - 8 weeks after closing. Recorded deeds are mailed to the property address, unless you have given a different mailing address, shown in box A of HUD-1.
